A Never Ending Nightmare in Juarez

The struggle in Juarez, a never ending nightmare. The people at Juarez have experiencing lately a civil war between the Mexican government and the drug cartels. Since the political campaign “PAN” won the elections, they have tried to stop the drug cartel. Therefore they started a civil war that is too great to handle. Until one side wins the war there will be no peace for the citizens in Juarez.
Before the political campaign “PAN” won, there was another political campaign “PRI” which had a way to keep everything in control. The political campaign “PRI” would allow the drug cartel to do their business, as long as there were no citizens casualties. This method worked fine, everyone would do their own thing and no one would get hurt. When the political campaign “PAN” won the elections for the first time in eight decades, they changed the whole system “PRI” established. The change in system created chaos among the citizens of Mexico and the drug cartels.
When the political campaign “PAN” obtained power over Mexico, they tried to stop the drug cartels. The drug cartels had set an agreement with the “PRI”, and know that they are not in power they tried to make new agreement with the new government. The drug cartels had offered to pay the Mexican debt, but at the risk of the entire Mexican population the government refuses. The new government made a great mistake by trying to stop the drug cartels.
The drug cartels continued their business ignoring the government warnings. When the police started to actually enforce the law, the drug cartels responded with a series of murders. At first the government were winning the war, but only because they took the drug cartels by surprise. Most of the cartels were small and could not face the entire Mexican government, so the only smart choice was to join forces with other cartels. The cartels in Mexico joined forces with the cartels in Colombia. The Colombian cartel’s have a special way to infiltrate fear to the population in Mexico. The drug cartels in Mexico would just shoot their victims in the head, but they adopted Colombians ways of murdering their victims. By slaughtering them, and leave their headless corpses in a public place so they could leave message. That if someone dares to stop them that they would be next. This message of death is so powerful that the police stopped perusing them.
The drug cartels war had gone to such degree that in a small town in Mexico the chief of the police department dared to face the drug cartels. Know the chief of police is dead, and no one would want to fill its position. Eventually a young brave woman took charge of the police department. Sadly the police department stopped caring their weapons, to show the drug cartels that they would not fight back. Actually this war has helped the cartels to become more powerful, that they are known recruiting their own army to fight against the Mexican government. The cartels had put in the past signs around the city promising a better pay if you joined their army.
The drug cartel had sent strong messages to the Mexican government that they want to stop the war. Sadly the Mexican government has refused all agreements. The Mexican government wants to stop the drug cartels at any cost, they would not settle for less. The drug cartels started to put car bombs all around the city of Juarez, demanding the government to stopped trying to stop them. The drug cartels detonated one car bomb, thankfully there were no casualties. The Mexican government responded to the cartels, that they could detonate all the car bombs they wanted but this incident would not stop the Mexican government from pursuing them.
The situation in Juarez is getting worst by the day, and the Mexican government is to proud admit failure. The Mexican government needs to go back to the agreement the drug cartels made whit the political campaign “PRI”. The Mexican government has to stop their foolish dream of defeating the drug cartels, because the only thing they have achieved is a civil war. Until the Mexican government realizes that like them the drug cartels will never stop until one becomes victorious, the citizens in Juarez will never live in peace.

  1. Its not that the government is too proud, but rather I think its fearful, or too corrupt to ask for help.

  2. I believe that the government knows what they are doing and what they had to do to stop all the cartels, but like the government and the cartels had to a lot of money in between. I believe that government and cartels are involve and together because is not possible that Mexico can not send Inhofe soldiers to stop all members of every cartel. Out laud you can see witch people are involved in the cartels and witch people is not.

  3. I don't believe that the government before was doing the right thing. The previous governments ignored the problem with the cartels and allowed them to grow too powerful and gain a lot of control. I do believe that President Calderon took the right actions in trying to eliminate the cartels and the corruption that they brought to the to the country. Although the country suffered greatly with this civil war I believe that this is all for the better. Even though Mexico suffered a lot, not only the many deaths but also economically, when all this is over the people will be able to live in peace and go back to living their normal lives

One of my family members died because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Is really sad to see how much my family suffer with this kinfd of lost and I think we are still living in a nightmare and I hope that the Mexico's government should do something about it eventhough we know that the government is involve too. Finally i just want to said that you did a good job in your essay:)

  5. A nightmare as endless darkness, closely alike to your background. But, the true nightmare comes from the government whom pressured not only by the individuals of the country but other countries as well has not taken the right decision, those towards refining the economy to create jobs, so the people not just in Juarez but in all Mexicao have a more plausible chance of getting a job than joining the drug cartels.
